Standing Boy Trails is the mountain biking hub of Columbus, Georgia. With over 15 miles of singletrack spread across dedicated zones for different riding styles, it is one of the best trail systems in the Southeast.
Trail System Overview
Standing Boy offers something for every rider:
- Biking trails: The core singletrack network for cross-country riding
- Hiking trails: Shared-use paths open to foot traffic
- Multiuse trails: Accessible to both bikes and hikers
- Gravity trails: Dedicated downhill and flow lines
The trail system is managed by the Standing Boy Trail Conservancy, a volunteer-driven organization that builds, maintains, and protects these trails.
The Finicky Trails
Standing Boy has a unique feature: a set of trails they call “finicky” trails. These include Lickety Split, Cyclone Gallop, The Bug, Swaveys, and Sky Shark. These trails have surfaces that are more sensitive to moisture and close first after rain, staying closed longer than the standard trails.
When the main biking trails reopen, the finicky trails may still need additional drying time. This is important for riders planning their visit because the finicky trails include some of the most popular technical features in the system.
